Hooking up trailer lights doesn’t have to mean hacking into your vehicle wiring. This Curt T-Connector plugs right into existing connections behind the tail lights to give you a clean 4-flat trailer connector. It’s truly plug-and-play, no splicing required, and the powered converter is built in to handle the load safely.
This harness uses its own 12-volt line that runs to the battery instead of pulling power from your vehicle’s lighting circuits. That setup isolates the trailer from the vehicle’s sensitive electronics and keeps shorts or overloads from damaging your system. It only draws power when the trailer lights are on, so there’s no drain when you’re not towing.
Once installed, you get a standard 4-pole flat connector that powers running lights, turn signals, and brake lights on most small trailers. The bonded four-wire section measures 73-1/2" long so you have enough lead to reach a mounting bracket or stow it inside when not in use.
The wiring can be routed under the cargo trim or kept inside until needed. When used this way, the weatherstripping at the rear hatch protects it from moisture and road grime. Keeping the connector out of the elements helps prevent corrosion and extends its life between towing trips.

Installed one for a 22 explorer and followed the Etrailer video step by step. Come the find out the box is shorted and needs replaced. I order another and triple check that it is grounded well before applying power and same thing. Will be sending that in for a replacement or refund as well....
The package was beat to heck and there were scratches on the hitch.
Fortunately I'm not a twit and realize that you put all that weight from something that sturdy in a cardboard box and send it across the country the box is going to lose the fight. Soooooo, Since I said that the hitch is creat and hopefully I can get it on the lift this week or next and get it on. Your service is EXCELLENT and I appreciate the speed my hitch arrived.
I just bothered to put on my glasses because I was worried that h was a b and oops. SO, I also noticed this was for the wiring harness and dad gummit it arrived attached to the SOLID STEEL HITCH by a zip tie and WE all know that zip ties are like duct tape and that means it goes anywhere.
And no, this isn't sarcasm even though a lot of times it is sarcasm. etrailer.com KILLED it and I'm more than satisfied with my purchase.
The wiring harness was delivered in a timely manner and it fit the car as it should.
Easy to install following instructions. Hardest part is crawling under suv to tread the positive wire to battery, better to raise the vehicle.
My purchased arrived earlier than expected, packaged carefully and the installation video was perfect.

The product worked exactly as advertised and the video was extremely helpful with installing it. Only problem was the length of the wire that needs to be routed to the battery was 3' short. Although I am a novice, I can't see how even a professional could have gotten the wire to the battery without buying additional wire. You WILL need to buy extra wire to compete the installation. Overall, I am still very happy with the purchase.
Great instructions, good product, would be nice if Ford had it already set up for the wiring considering it's a good tow vehicle.
2022 Limited Explorer has a speaker tuning port mounted in the left rear corner. This makes it extremely difficult to disconnect the left connector. To add insult to injury, the cable for the left side is too short for the controller to reach the bottom of the trunk. I had to mount it on an electronics box up about 3 inches. Hopefully Curt used a strong adhesive on the mounting pad.
Bottom line - left side cable is too short, and it is a difficult installation if your model has a tuning prot on the left rear speaker.
Needed 2nd day delivery(while calling on Saturday after shipping closed) they did ship it and I got on time ( 2 ford transits with wiring)
Installed when supposed to, customer was happy, the world is a better place!

Hitch was easy to install. Dropping exhaust and heat shield was the hardest part.

Followed etrailer's [online] install video, took a few hours by myself but it looks and works great!
Looked very intimidating at first. However, it took me about an hour to install harness. Longest part was fishing the power line from trunk, to engine compartment. I would recommend it to everybody.

Absolutely the easiest wiring harness to install ever!!! Would recommend this to anyone, even if you have limited mechanical skills it was a breeze, follow the video instructions and its a breeze.
Both products look great (eTrailer and the Curt wiring harness pack). I haven't installed the trailer yet (later this week I will). But the products arrived two or three days before they were scheduled to arrive; so early is always good. However, they arrived pretty banged up. Not surprising given the weight / bulk of the product. However, it wasn't a great look. Perhaps consider a different form of packaging for future orders of this kind. Overall, though, I have no complaints.
The day I received the Curt T-Connector vehicle wiring harness I tore into my trunk of my 2010 Ford Taurus SHO to install. Super easy lug and play to each taillight. Two things to do which are to mount a ground then run a power wire from trunk to the front engine bay and connect the 10 amp fuse and attach to battery connection. Only took 45 minutes which I thought was good since this was my first time. Connected 4 pole harness lead to my trailer and everything works great
This kit worked well... right up until it failed. I called tech support when one of the wires remained hot all the time -- the tech indicated that I probably have a short in the converter box, & the warranty is only good for 1 year. I asked if I could buy a new converter box -- nope, have to buy the whole wiring kit. Not happy.
Always get quality when I order from et railer.
The Curt wire harness works great. The UTube attachment was overly uptimistic on the time to install. The job was more like 3 hours for my skilled mechcanic.
